Showgard Stamp Mounts - Black Background Strips (215mm)

Overview

What it is and who it's for

Showgard stamp mounts in black strips are the archival-quality standard that serious philatelists turn to when it comes time to safely house and beautifully display their stamp collections. Manufactured using inert, acid-free materials, these mounts feature a crystal-clear front film that allows unobstructed viewing of the stamp's design and perforations, while the black background strip behind it serves to make colors pop and details stand out with striking contrast. This presentation style has long been favored by collectors who exhibit their stamps competitively or simply want their albums to have a museum-quality look, since the black backing eliminates the washed-out appearance that can occur with clear-only mounts on white album pages.

Each strip comes in a continuous length that collectors cut down to the precise size needed for individual stamps, blocks, or souvenir sheets, making Showgard mounts remarkably versatile across different collecting projects. The split-back design allows the mount to be opened, with the stamp inserted and then sealed along the edges using the mount's own adhesive strip, which is gentle enough to avoid damaging delicate stamp paper yet secure enough to keep items firmly in place for decades of storage. Collectors appreciate that these mounts do not require any additional tools or glue, since everything needed for a clean, professional mounting job is built into the product itself, and the strip format means less waste and more control over sizing compared to pre-cut individual mounts.

Durability and long-term preservation are central to why Showgard black strips have remained a trusted name in stamp supplies for generations of collectors. The polyester film used in construction resists yellowing, cracking, and brittleness over time, protecting valuable stamps from environmental factors like humidity and handling oils that can degrade paper and gum. Whether mounting common definitives for a casual album or housing rare classics destined for exhibition frames, these black strips offer an affordable, reliable solution that combines protective function with the kind of polished visual presentation that makes a stamp collection genuinely satisfying to look at and to show others.
